Wim Smets is a Transformation executive. He helps companies implement their strategy and improve their efficiency. When he is not transforming, he seeks challenges at extreme altitude. He currently holds the Belgian record for climbing 8000 meter peaks and is honorary citizen of Rumst.

 

Mountaineering track record:

• 13th Belgian that climbed Mount Everest (8850 meter).

• Third Belgian that climbed the “7 Summits”, the highest mountain on each of the 7 continents.

• First Belgian that has attempted to climb K2 (8611 meter).

• First Belgian that reached the true summit of Broad Peak (8051 meter).

• Second Belgian that reached the summit of Manaslu (8163 meter).

• First Belgian that reached the summit of Lhotse (8516 meter).

• Only Belgian that has climbed five 8000 meter peaks: Broad Peak, Everest, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and Lhotse.
