In Smets Adventures, I want to inspire your employees, team members, clients and/or partners to take on challenges in a professional way. To achieve this, I combine my experience in the transformation of companies and government institutions with the lessons learned at extreme altitude.

EDS - Transformation manager

1995 - 2008

In EDS, I was responsible for the transformation of IT-departments of multinationals and government institutions. To achieve success, I focussed on organisation and program management but also on the people aspect of the change, both with the employees of the IT-department as with the end-users of the IT services.

Expedition experience

I am a passionate and experienced mountaineer who prepares his challenges thoroughly and executes them professionally. I am the 3rd Belgian that climbed the 7 Summits (the highest mountain on each continent). I am also the first Belgian that has ever tried to climb K2, the 2nd highest mountain in the world. On top of that I am the only Belgian that has climbed Broad Peak and Lhotse. On Broad Peak, I saved the life of a South-African mountaineer during the descent.

This track record makes me the most successful expedition climber of Belgium. For my accomplishments, I have received congratulations of the royal family and was named honorary citizen of my hometown.
